NFDI-MatWerk - Responsive Layout
NFDI-MatWerk – National Research Data Infrastructure for MSE

We support researchers in Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) with FAIR data solutions that enable new discovery.

We envision research data management (RDM) that supports every stage of a project, strengthens collaboration through easier data exchange, and integrates materials data from different techniques, including experiments and simulations.

We invite researchers with all levels of RDM knowledge to engage with an ecosystem of adaptable workflows, services, tools, and guidance that support daily laboratory and simulation work.

NFDI-MatWerk Impact Insights: Prof. Dr. Claudia Fleck on the Value of Shared Research Data Practices

As our NFDI-MatWerk Impact Insights video series continues, the next contribution comes from Prof. Dr. Claudia Fleck of Technische Universität Berlin. In her video statement, she reflects on how NFDI-MatWerk supports the materials science community and strengthens her work within her research unit BioAntiFatigue.

Prof. Dr. Fleck highlights the importance of structured data practices and coordinated workflows for fatigue-related materials testing of natural and bio-inspired materials. She points out that shared infrastructures and transparent data handling enable researchers to connect results more effectively, integrate diverse datasets, and collaborate with greater precision. These developments directly benefit BioAntiFatigue, where understanding fatigue mechanisms relies on robust, interoperable research data.

Her perspective demonstrates how NFDI-MatWerk enhances scientific work by improving standardization within the field and supporting more coherent, data-driven approaches to material behavior under cyclic loading.
