The aim of the 1^st NFDI-MatWerk Conference is the development of a common vision of digital transformation in materials science and engineering. During the three days, we will try to take a peak into the future, we will become more practical, and we will start with the next steps proposed for 2024 by the NFDI-MatWerk.

Day 1: We start with workshops on digital tools that provide support for research data management and analysis in Materials Science and Engineering. Later, you can meet providers and learn about projects, which show the use of digital solutions. We want to get into discussions with you. You are also welcome to contribute here with solutions as well as by presenting data-driven scientific use-cases (posters in a marketplace setting).

Day 2: First, we will try to take a short peak into the future: Together with you we would like to develop a common vision of how Digital Transformation can be facilitated within Materials Science and Engineering. Furthermore, we want to discuss how funding agencies see these developments and how expectations are changing concerning the content of proposals, especially collaborative project proposals, (e.g. SFBs, SPPs, ExIni Clusters, BMBF projects, …)

We become more practical as we would like to figure out what needs to be implemented and done on the different levels, as the scientific group, the institution and as a community altogether. Therefore, solutions will be presented by NFDI-MatWerk and many other participants. You are also welcome to contribute here with solutions as well as data-driven scientific use cases (pitches and posters in a marketplace setting).

Day 3: We start with the next steps proposed for 2024 by the NFDI-MatWerk. If you have a project which you would like to associate with the NFDI-MatWerk you can propose what you need and what you can contribute to our growing digital infrastructure in a short presentation. Last but not least, we will again offer hands-on workshops and hackathons to experience the software and data tools at first-hand.
