Overview

The Task Area Materials Workflows and Software Development (TA-WSD) is dedicated to creating and enhancing software frameworks that facilitate the integration and automation of experimental and computational workflows in materials science. TA-WSD focuses on developing tools and protocols that allow researchers to seamlessly share, execute, and reproduce their workflows, thus improving the efficiency and quality of data processing and analysis. This Task Area ensures that workflows are tightly integrated with underlying data, supporting robust and flexible research practices tailored to diverse scientific needs.

Goals

  • Develop Software Frameworks: Create comprehensive software frameworks that support the integration and automation of experimental and computational workflows in materials science.
  • Facilitate Workflow Sharing and Reproducibility: Enable researchers to share and reproduce workflows easily by providing tools that integrate with the digital infrastructure, enhancing collaborative research.
  • Automate Experimental and Computational Protocols: Develop protocols for automating modeling and (in the future) experimental processes to reduce manual effort and increase consistency in data handling.
  • Integrate Workflows with Data: Ensure that workflows are seamlessly integrated with underlying materials data and the MatWerk Knowledge Graph, allowing for smooth data processing and analysis within the digital infrastructure.
  • Enhance Productivity and Data Quality: Improve research productivity and the quality of data analysis by providing robust software tools that streamline workflow execution and data processing.
  • Adapt to User Needs and Technological Advances: Continuously update and refine software frameworks to meet the evolving needs of users and incorporate the latest technological advancements in materials science.
  • Support Advanced Data Analysis: Offer features that support advanced data analysis methods, including data visualization, machine learning integration, and complex data processing capabilities.
