Mat-O-Lab (Materials Open Laboratory) is a Joint Venture of Fraunhofer Materials and BAM. Mat-O-Lab stands for the digitization of materials, parts and components along their entire life cycle. For that purpose, concrete practical and applicable solutions for pilot cases centered about specific materials are developed and provide for public use. Key results (datasets, ontologies, tools for data structuring and data analysis) from parallel research projects are consolidated and constantly improved.
Recently Mat-O-Lab entered a second phase with a strong focus on generative AI / LLM usage to accelerate digital material science, collecting important experiences in the interconnection between LLMs, workflows and knowledge graphs.
Within MatWerk Mat-O-Lab will contribute to an integrated, interoperable ecosystem for materials science research that combines workflow automation, semantic data representation, collaborative AI supported tools, and accelerated discovery processes.
